COVID Scheduling

For scheduling with SickKids in Toronto:

  • Individuals must be 12 years or older at the time of the vaccine appointment.

SickKids Pre-travel COVID-19 testing for all ages:
  • Following testing guidance from the Ministry of Health, the assessment centres no longer provide free testing for the purpose of pre-travel clearance. A fee must be paid by credit or debit card at the assessment centre. We cannot accept cash.
  • Travellers are responsible for verifying COVID-19 testing requirements with their airline or the place they will be visiting.
  • Please do not book with us if you are leaving within 24 hours of your appointment. It is important to ensure ample time for testing and receiving results.
  • Results should be available within 72 hours after the test. However, the lab cannot guarantee this time period and travellers will be required to sign a waiver to recognize that the timing of their test results are not guaranteed.
  • Please book one appointment per person.

For scheduling with Kids Come First Assessment Clinic and COVID-19 DIY Testing at CHEO in Ottawa:

ATTENTION:  COVID-19 testing criteria has changed. Booking a test or an appointment for an assessment at the Kids Come First Care Clinic does not guarantee a test will be performed unless you pass the on-site screen as being in a high-risk situation. .

Please review the current criteria and guidance for what to do if you no longer qualify for a test here. If you have already booked an appointment that you will no longer be using, please cancel it by emailing testinginquiries@cheo.on.ca or by calling our clinic at 613-737-7600 ext. 4013.

  • When you arrive, you will be screened and must meet strict testing eligibility criteria to receive a kit.

  • You will receive a kit with supplies, instructions and a sample registration form for you and your child to complete in the car or at home, and then drop off at the CHEO main entrance.
  • If your child has special needs or you require assistance inside CHEO to obtain the sample with your child, please speak to our Patient Experience/Front Door Screening personnel when you pick up your kit.

Kids Come First Care Clinic Assessment:
  • Please note: KCF Care Clinic Appointments are no longer at the Brewer Assessment Centre, and have moved to the CHEO main floor at 401 Smyth Road.
  • Appointments for an assessment can only be booked for children and youth over two months of age and under 18 years old with new symptoms of infection such as fever, cough, vomiting, belly pain, earache, rash or sore throat.
  • The Care Clinic assessments have changed to a collaborative assessment team model to allow as many children as possible to be seen by experienced pediatric clinicians.
  • Your child will be assessed by a pediatric nurse. They will take information about this illness, check your child's oxygen and breathing and complete a focused physical exam. They will then provide you with information and resources on how to manage your child's illness over the next few days. The on-site doctor will only see patients identified by the nurse who need more assessment or testing.
  • We are not able to provide assessment or advice for injuries or primary care visits like well-baby checks, routine immunizations, chronic constipation or abdominal pain, behavioural issues, medication adjustments or refills, or mental health concerns. These problems must be addressed by your regular doctor or nurse practitioner.
  • Please provide a brief description of your child’s symptoms in the “Reason for visit” text box.
  • If your child also needs a test for COVID-19 and qualifies for it, it will be performed during the visit – you do not need to book a separate testing appointment.
  • If your child recently had a COVID-19 test but symptoms are continuing, you can still be seen at the Kids Come First COVID-19 Care Clinic for a medical assessment without a test.
  • There are a limited number of walk-up appointments available for assessments intended for those who are unable to access this online booking site.
  • If you have any questions about your appointment, please contact CHEO by calling 613-737-7600 extension 4013.
